NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPU is rumored to feature more memory than the original GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card.

Update: According to Kopite7limi, the RTX 4080 SUPER might retain the full AD103 GPU die while the RTX 4070 SUPER should be close to the 4070 Ti in specs. Once again, it looks like NVIDIA has several configurations in the works but only one would make its way to retail.

And RTX 4070 Super looks like a RTX 4070 Ti with a little bit cutting.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER (4080 Ti) was amongst the first cards of the upcoming and rumored refresh that was pointed out. The initial rumors said that the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER was going to use the AD102 GPU with a TGP below the 450W and similar pricing as the RTX 4080 Non-SUPER.

Now, it looks like Benchlife has confirmed that the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER does exist along with the rest of the rumored RTX 40 SUPER series cards but it looks like NVIDIA has yet to decide their final configurations. One configuration of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPU includes up to 20 GB of GDDR6X memory which is 25% more than the RTX 4080 and makes the card more or less similar to the RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB.

According to our various sources, the relevant information has not yet been provided to various AIC partners, but the three SKUs have basically been confirmed, among which the updated version of GeForce RTX 4080 will be a 20GB GDDR6x memory configuration, but another source emphasized , everything will be finalized until NVIDIA releases a formal notice, otherwise it will just be an Internet rumor.

Back in the RTX 30 GPU era, we kept hearing rumors about an RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB memory but when the card actually did launch, it only offered 12 GB of GDDR6X memory. But, several months later, it was revealed that manufacturers did make certain RTX 3080 Ti 20 GB models and most of them were either scrapped or offloaded to the crypto segment. So this time, we can expect a real 20 GB variant since the RTX 4080 already offers 16 GB memory.

Also, the addition of more memory aligns with the use of the AD102 GPU since the existing AD103 chips can only go up to 256-bit bus interface, and that restricts it to 16 GB / 32 GB designs with the latter only being specific to Pro RTX variants. The AD102 GPU allows for a wider bus and with the 20 GB VRAM, you are looking at a 320-bit configuration. Other specifications such as core config are yet to be determined but it is likely these cards will go through several config changes prior to the launch as we have seen with previous generations of NVIDIA GPUs.

Now the previous rumors also pointed out that the pricing for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER will be the same as the RTX 4080 while the existing card will see a price drop to $999 US. This would suggest that AMD wants to keep on pushing the RTX 4080 series as the 7900 XTX competitor while the RTX 4090 remains the top Halo card until it eventually gets replaced by a SUPER or TI offering.
