MSI Unveils Its Flagship MEG X870E GODLIKE & Entire X870E/X870 Motherboards, The Most Impressive IO Ever With 8 Type-C Ports

MSI has officially unveiled its next-gen X870E & X870 motherboards including the flagship MEG X870E GODLIKE which features godly IO capabilities. We detailed this flagship beast in our deep-dive over here.
Press Release: MSI has always focused on delivering value and quality to those who want to build PCs, and our lineup of X870E and X870 motherboards reflects that focus. What’s more, the launch of AMD Ryzen 9000 processors should accompany shiny new motherboards to match their power and new capabilities!
In addition to the additional PCIe Gen 5.0 bandwidth, these motherboards also come equipped with a few MSI-exclusive features to serve as a base for a PC that’ll both perform well and be a breeze to build.
According to AMD, it will continue supporting the AM5 socket through 2027, which means that a motherboard you’re buying today can stick by you for years. Following are the comparisons of the various X870E & X870 MSI motherboards:
Springing for a great AM5 motherboard right now means that you leave the door open for a quick swap-in upgrade to newer, more powerful Ryzen processors down the line with a simple BIOS update.
So, what’s new with these motherboards?
X870E vs. X870 Chipsets: Pick the Perfect One
As of August 2024, AMD has announced the following 800-series chipsets for its AM5 platform: X870E, X870, B850, and B840. While motherboards with the X870 chipset are designed to offer a premium experience, the X870E variants take it a step further – granting you additional bandwidth to support more devices, ports, storage, etc.
Like its 600-series predecessors, these 800-series motherboards offer support for AMD’s Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 Series processors. There’s one difference, though. While a 600-series motherboard will need a BIOS update, an 800-series motherboard will support Ryzen 9000 out-of-the-box.
MEG X870E GODLIKE Motherboard: An Unabashedly Powerful Experience
Designing a GODLIKE motherboard is all about pushing the envelope and delivering the very best experience in a stunning package. And it’s exactly what you’ll see with the brand-new MEG X870E GODLIKE motherboard too!
It’s designed for enthusiasts to enjoy the pinnacle of PC building, overclocking, and performance. What’s more, it blends a clean, dark design with tasteful lighting for a stunning look.
The Dynamic Dashboard makes a comeback too, now in its third iteration, with a host of improvements such as a 3.99-inch LCD screen on the motherboard. You can use Dynamic Dashboard III to monitor your hardware, troubleshoot your system, check BIOS update status, display a clock, or even personalize it.
Beyond the dashboard, The MEG X870E GODLIKE simplifies cable management to a whole another level, drawing on some inspiration from the MSI Project Zero, but not as radical. The EZ Link design consolidates most of the case front panel headers, fan headers, and RGB headers into the EZ Bridge and EZ Control Hub, simplifying the installation and achieving a cleaner aesthetic.
In addition to the 5 built-in M.2 slots, the MEG X870E GODLIKE also includes a brand-new M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 card. It grants you 2 additional M.2 PCIe Gen 5 slots, with the added convenience of swapping/installing those M.2 SSDs without opening your case.
It also features a robust power delivery system with a 27-phase (24 + 2 + 1) Duet Rail Power System, consisting of premium 110A Smart Power Stages. Not only can this board handle overclocking even the most powerful AMD processors available today, but they’re also ready to tackle upcoming generations without breaking a sweat.
A Wavy-Fin Heatsink and the signature Cross Heat-Pipe are more than up to the task of wicking heat away from the power delivery components – keeping your CPU at peak performance even during extended loads.
We’ve held nothing back when it comes to both wired and wireless networking. You’ll find 10G and 5G LAN as well as full-featured Wi-Fi 7 built into the motherboard to keep you connected at the best speeds possible. It also comes equipped with all the USB ports you might need: a total of 8x USB Type-A and 7x USB Type-C (plus 2x front panel USB Type-C headers with up to 60W power delivery).
