Lenovo Fuses Intel Meteor Lake & Qualcomm Snapdragon Arm CPUs Together In Its Hybrid ThinkBook Laptop/Tablet

Lenovo has taken the AI PC & "2-in-1" narrative to a whole new level with its latest ThinkBook Plus Hybrid, which fuses Intel Meteor Lake & Qualcomm Snapdragon CPUs together for Windows and Android mode operation.
Lenovo's ThinkBook lineup of devices has brought massive innovation to the markets, but it looks like the newest entrant is expected to be the best of all, given that Lenovo has decided to capitalize on the AI PC hype and provide consumers with a "hybrid" solution, allowing them to leverage on features from both Windows and Android operating systems. Lenovo has made this functionality possible through a pretty interesting and unique method, which is why the ThinkBook Plus stands out from other competitors in the market.
So, Lenovo here has incorporated a multi-OS in their ThinkBook device, and they have done this by dealing with the "screen" and the "baseboard" as two separate entities, and we'll explain this next. The screen of the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid can be said to be an Android tablet in itself, while the keyboard holds the "Windows element" of the device, along with higher storage & memory configurations. With the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid, users can utilize both Android and Windows side by side. The docking mechanism is really interesting here since it converts the tablet into a proper laptop.
Not only does this device bring "native" Android support onboard, but having to work with different operating systems without getting into any sort of emulation is certainly impressive. To top everything off, the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid comes with modern-day specifications, featuring Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, while the "tablet portion" contains Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
For memory and storage, the keyboard part features 32 GB LPDDR5X memory, along with 1 TB SSD. Similarly, the tablet comes with 12 GB LPDDR5X memory and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage.
The tablet is the primary source here in terms of display specifications, featuring a 14-inch panel with 2.8K OLED resolution and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Given the hefty workload this laptop is capable of, the battery is also well-equipped. The tablet part comes with a 38 Whr battery, while the keyboard part comes with a 75 Whr battery, totaling up to 113 Whr, which is impressive. For connections, the Thinkbook Plus Hybrid comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack.
While the device does look "all rainbows," there are some drawbacks, particularly associated with the hybrid model running around here. First, the device comes with a shared storage of 10 GB, which is quite low for those who desire multitasking with this device. Apart from this, the pricing factor of this particular device might hinder its adoption in the markets since the Thinkbook Plus Hybrid is retailing for 15,999 yuan/$2,240 at JD.com. Currently, the device is listed in China only, but we do expect to see it globally since the ThinkBook Plus Hybrid was showcased back at CES 2024.
