Noctua Intros NM-DD1 Direct Die Kit For Delidded AMD Ryzen AM5 CPUs

Noctua has unveiled a unique NM-DD1 direct die kit that enables the mounting of Noctua CPU coolers onto delidded AMD Ryzen AM5 processors. The product was developed in collaboration with the famous overclocker and cooling expert Roman “der8auer” Hartung.
"Delidding" a CPU is a process in which the processor's heat spreader is removed and replaced by another thermal material, which is usually a liquid metal thermal compound. This is done to lower the temperatures of a processor in case of hardcore overclocking. In some cases, the temperature decrease is around 10-15°C. However, this process has its flaws, one of them being that you could void the warranty of your processor. It is advised that an average consumer shouldn't carry out this process and instead leave it to the experts.
The NM-DD1 direct die kit is equipped with spacers underneath the heatsink bracket. This allows us to bridge the gap between the removed heat spreader and the CPU's heatsink. Here is what the company's CEO, Roland Mossig has to say about the new mounting mechanism:
Delidding and direct die cooling will void your CPU’s warranty and bear a certain risk of damaging it, so this certainly isn’t for everyone.
However, the performance gains to be had are simply spectacular, typically ranging from 10 to 15°C but in some cases, we’ve even seen improvements of almost 20°C in combination with our offset mounting bars, so we’re confident that this is an attractive option for enthusiast users. Thanks to Roman for teaming up with us in order to enable customers to implement this exciting tuning measure with our CPU coolers.
The main advantage of these new die kits is that they enhance the thermal dissipation between the dies on the processor and the heatsink, ultimately leading to much-lowered temperatures. It will be helpful when an over-clocker needs to test the limits of the processor but high temperatures are getting in their way. Moreover, Noctua has also included the option of combining the die kits with its offset AM5 mounting bars leading to a further 2°C decrease in temperatures.
You can purchase the NM-DD1 direct die for €4.9 from Noctua's official website. Furthermore, for those unable to access the website, the company has provided STL files shared at Printables.com for the spacers in the NM-DD1 kit.
