Intel's Granite Rapids P-Core & Sierra Forest E-Core "Xeon 6" CPU specs have leaked out along with huge LGA 7529 & LGA 4710 motherboards.

Just a few hours ago, we reported preliminary specifications of four Granite Rapids-AP SKUs, and now, we have a mega leak from YuuKi_AnS who had previously given us a glimpse of the Beechnut City reference platform based around the LGA 4710 socket.

Starting with the details, the new CPUs will be part of the Intel Xeon 6 family which is segmented into the P-Core-only Granite Rapids and E-Core-only Sierra Forest lineups. There are a total of 12 Granite Rapids chips and 17 Sierra Forest chips mentioned but as always, there could be more at the official launch.

First up, we have the Intel Granite Rapids family which utilize the Xeon 6 6000P branding. These chips will be divided into SP and AP parts which we will get to in a bit. All chips are based on the Redwood Cove P-Core architecture. The Granite Rapids-SP CPU lineup ranges from 32, 44, & 56 cores, offering up to 288 MB of L3 cache and up to 350W TDPs. The clock speeds are listed though they are based on ES specs so final frequencies should be higher.

The lineup will also include the higher-end Granite Rapids-AP CPUs which are designed as the more premium Intel Platinum offerings. These include the Xeon 6 6980P, 6979P, 6972P and 6960P. These chips range from 72, 96, 120 & 128 cores, up to 3.80 GHz clock speeds, and up to 500W TDPs.

Moving over to the Intel Xeon 6 6000E "Sierra Forest" lineup, we have 16 SP SKUs and just a single AP SKU. All chips are based on the Sierra Glen E-Core architecture which is an optimized version of the Crestmont core architecture featured on Meteor Lake client chips. The CPUs range from 64, 96, 112, 128, 144 cores with up to 108 MB cache and 350W TDPs while the single AP SKU features 288 cores with 216 MB of L3 cache and up to 500W TDP.

Considering that Intel's Emerald Rapids (5th Gen Xeon) family peaks out at 64 cores, Granite Rapids will offer double the core count. This will also match the maximum core count of the classic Zen 5-based EPYC Turin chips which are expected to feature up to 128 cores while Zen 5C is going to max out at 192 cores.

  • One thing we should mention is that the "AP" lineup is centered around a bigger socket. Intel's Birch Stream platform will come in two flavors, the LGA 4710 for the SP chips and the larger LGA 7529 socket for the AP chips. Intel will also be offering 288 cores on its Sierra Forest E-Core family.

    Now let's talk about the platform itself. The Intel Xeon 6 SP CPUs will be compatible with LGA 4710 sockets in 1S-8S configurations. The reference platform for LGA 4710 is known as "Beechnut City" & features 32 DIMM slots which support up to 4 TB DDR5 RDIMM/MCR capacities. The CPUs feature an 8-channel IMC and offer up to 136 PCIe Gen5 lanes.

    The second and the monster platform is the AP series which features the LGA 7529 socket and is compatible with up to 288 E-Core and 128 P-Core Xeon 6 CPUs. The reference platform for LGA 7529 is the "Avenue City" & features 24 DIMM slots which runs a 12-channel memory solution. The platform also features support for up to 136 PCIe Gen5 lanes.

    The Intel Sierra Forest CPUs are expected to launch this quarter around Computex 2024 and will be competing against the existing AMD EPYC Bergamo "Zen 4C" and the upcoming EPYC Turin "Zen 5C" chips while Granite Rapids P-Core CPUs are expected to debut later this year and will target the Turin "Zen 5" lineup.
