First AMD Ryzen Mini PCs With Phoenix APUs Coming In May: Up To Ryzen 9 7940H, LPDDR5x-7500, USB4, $500 US Base Price

The first AMD Ryzen Mini PCs featuring the powerful Phoenix "Ryzen 7040" APUs are coming to retail shelves next month in May.

According to reports, AMD partners will be releasing the first Mini PCs based on the new Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APUs starting next month. These Mini PCs will come from various partners which include Minisforum, GMKtech, ASUS, MOREFINE, & MACHENIKE. These are just a few names so expect more in the list later on.

As for the specifications, the Bilibili content creator, 小明和他的女朋友, acquired documents & product sheets of a few designs. First up, we have the GMKtech Mini PC which will come with a Ryzen 9 7940H and a Ryzen 7 7840H variant.

Both of these chips feature 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture with 8 MB of L2 and 16 MB of L3 cache. They also feature AMD's Radeon 780M RDNA 3 iGPU and the main difference is that the 7940H operates at 4.0/5.2/2.80 GHz clock speeds (CPU Base / CPU Boost / GPU Boost) while the 7840H operates at 3.8/5.1/2.70 GHz clock speeds.

These AMD Ryzen 7040 Phoenix Mini PCs will have the option to support both DDR5-5600 and LPDDR5x-7500 memory with up to 256 GB capacities. It is also stated that the Ryzen 9 7940H scores upwards of 16000 points at 54W and upwards of 18000 points at 80W within the CBR23 (Cinebench R23) benchmark. This is almost the same level of performance as the Dragon Range Ryzen 7 7745HX CPU which has a much higher operating TDP.

Most designs will incorporate USB4 and dual HDMI 2.1 ports along with various other I/O ports such as Ethernet LAN and additional USB ports.

The pricing of the AMD Ryzen Mini PCs hosting the new 7040 Phoenix APUs is said to start close to 3000 RMB which equals around $500 US. This will be the pricing for the base variant so those with higher memory and storage configurations will cost an extra.

So far, Minisforum & GMKtech have confirmed the launch of their brand-new Mini PCs next month. There will also be a variant with an external PSU in the future which will host support for discrete GPUs like the most recent B550 Mini PC.
