Colorful Teases “MEOW” Notebook Lineup: Equipped With AMD Ryzen 8040 CPUs & NVIDIA RTX 40 GPUs

Colorful has teased its entry into the gaming notebook space with its upcoming "MEOW" series which will feature AMD Ryzen 8040 CPUs.

The laptop industry has seen a new path with the advent of AI, and this includes current-gen components as well, which have been infused with capabilities that have taken the AI compute power in this segment to a whole new level. Judging by this, Colorful has decided to take a dig at the notebook market with two different models powered by the AMD Ryzen 8040 CPUs, the MEOW R15 24 and the MEOW R16 24, both with their respective specification differences which we will discuss later on.

The new laptops will be branded under the recently launched "MEOW" portfolio and handled by Colorful's gaming division, Colorfire, which is responsible for PC components.

Colorful plans on standing out with the new entrants through their unique choice of components, and it is reported that the firm will integrate AMD's recently-released "Hawk Point" Ryzen 8040 APUs, which come with decent AI capabilities that make them the best choice in modern-day scenarios. Moreover, the laptops will feature NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 series mobile SKUs, and while the specific models haven't been shortlisted yet, it is certainly going to be ones from the mid-range segment, as the "MEOW" laptops will feature a respective TDP of 180W and 230W.

We aren't aware of further details yet, but the laptop manufacturers, particularly in China, have seemed to jump into top-notch specifications on many occasions, only realizing that this isn't a sustainable approach. Although this opinion might differ, take, for example, SKUs by Thunderobot, which features NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090s in their highest-end offerings, but the laptop hasn't managed to make huge strides. Colorful faces this challenge, and due to the company's greater presence on a global level, we do expect the "MEOW" gaming laptop lineup to be more mature in terms of both performance and build quality.

Colorful hasn't disclosed the pricing or features of the respective models, but the firm is expected to unveil more details on February 23rd.
