AOC Reveals New 45-inch Ultra-Wide QHD & 165 Hz Gaming Display

AOC recently revealed their latest entry into the ultra-wide gaming displays, the Agon AG455UCX, which showcases a striking 44.5-inch DQHD (dual quantum dot high definition) display with a vertical alignment (VA) panel and amazing 5120 x 1440 screen resolution.
The new AOC Agon AG455UCX is four inches smaller than the current dual ultra-wide QHD display in the AOC Agon series. The large-width format is becoming more commonplace in the PC display marketplace, with companies like Samsung, Alienware, and others offering similar arrangements.
The new AOC Agon AG455UCX features a 1500R screen curvature for limiting eye and neck strain and offers a 178° horizontal/vertical viewing angle. The new display also features a 165 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response times, much faster than other curved ultrawide displays we have seen lately.
We at Wccftech are seeing averages of three to four-millisecond response rates, so one millisecond is less typical but growing slowly. From listings found online, the new display supports AMD FreeSync, but it is unknown how well it will fare with NVIDIA G-Sync. The maximum brightness level is 400 nits with a contrast ratio of 2,400:1 that will boost to 3,000:1. The color gamut varies depending on the type, as NTSC will be between 84 to 106%, sRGB between 100 to 122%, and DCI-P3 between 93 to 97%.
AOC's Agon AG455UCX offers a headphone hanger that projects off the left of the display. The gaming display offers the standard tilt and height adjustments and even throws in a swivel, which is unique for a curved display. We see it happen more often with larger displays but not as often with ultrawide "curved" displays such as this particular model. The weight of the new collection is said to be around 22 lbs.
For connections, the new AOC Agon AG455UCX is fashioned with a single DisplayPort 1.4 port, three HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub that offers four connections, and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt-Mode functionality. Since the new Agon AG455UCX has the Gen 1 USB hub available, it makes sense that the display has an integrated KVM switch. Lastly, the system has two 5W speakers and is outfitted with a 3.5mm audio jack onboard. Typical power consumption levels are expected to run around 75 watts.
The company has not revealed the availability, launch date, or pricing for the newest Agon AG455UCX display. It is speculated that the display will be less expensive than the company's current 49-inch Agon AG493UCX2 display, which is selling, on average, for around $1,000.
