AMD’s Latest Chipset Driver Adds Support For Ryzen AI 300 “Strix” APUs

The latest Ryzen chipset driver adds AMD Ryzen AI 300 "Strix" APUs to the list of supported chips and provides various bug fixes.
AMD will be launching its Ryzen AI 300 "Strix" APUs tomorrow, based on the Zen 5 architecture, and offering big leaps in laptop productivity, performance, and efficiency. To complement the APUs launch, users will enjoy full support via the latest AMD Ryzen Chipset Driver version 6.07.22.037. The newly released chipset driver adds support for a new program, new driver, and bug fixes for various known issues. The release notes list the complete product lineup for the motherboard chipsets and processors.
The AMD Ryzen AI 300 "Strix" APUs appear near the top of the Processor Support table, clearly stating that it will only be compatible with Windows 11. Strix Point as we know from earlier reports, had dropped compatibility with Windows 10 and will only work with Windows 11-based high-end gaming laptops. This is to ensure that Ryzen AI 300 chips will be targeted solely at AI PC platforms running the latest version of Windows 11 (24H2) with support for Copilot+ coming in through a future update.
The new chipset driver package contains various independent drivers for supporting a variety of Microsoft Windows platforms, which also depends on the AMD product in usage. Several drivers, including but not limited to PT GPIO Driver, PSP Driver, USB4 CM Driver, and SFH1.1 Driver saw bug fixes. Apart from the bug fixes, a new program called 'AMD Interface Driver(AMD PCI, AMD SMBuS, AMD Hetero, AMD RCEC)' has also been added to the list of drivers.
'AMD PMF Ryzen AI 300 Series Driver' version 24.6.18.0 has also been added to offer full support for the new Strix Series on Windows 11. AMD's Chipset Driver 6.07.22.037 can be downloaded from AMD's official website for both Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit editions. The page further details the complete instructions for installing Ryzen Chipset Drivers.
The Ryzen AI 300 processors are out now via laptops from multiple vendors. A week ago, HP released its OmniBook Ultra, offering up to 55 TOPS of NPU performance. ASUS & MSI have also joined the list by unveiling their latest offerings featuring Strix Point processors. Expect more laptop manufacturers to release newer gaming laptops based on the Ryzen AI 300 processors.
