AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs Show Strong Pre-Sales Reception In China, First Pre-Builds Listed & Priced As Thousands Wait For Zen 5 Launch 1

AMD Ryzen 9000 pre-sales activity has commenced in China & showing a strong reception from hardware enthusiasts ahead of Zen 5's retail launch.

China's flagship hardware retailer, JD.com, has finally listed the AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs. The CPUs are listed on a dedicated page alongside several details explaining the pre-sales & pre-orders process. The page also lists several rewards that users can access along with a range of pre-built PCs featuring the latest Ryzen 9000 CPUs, plus the best part is that these PCs are already listed with prices so you can get an idea of what these chips are going to cost on retail.

The pre-sales procedure in China is a bit different from the rest of the markets, especially US and EU. Customers will be allowed to place orders at JD.com starting 26th July till 15th of August. Those who pre-order the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X CPUs ahead of launch will receive a gift in the form of a Valkyrie R125 Loki CPU cooler featuring the "Once Human" theme. This is a  tower-type CPU and includes a magnetic LED cover on the top which can be customized. The cooler will be given to the first 150 pre-orders.

Moving on to the more interesting details, JD.com also lists the total number of pre-orders that have been made and it looks like early reception is very strong.

Despite reviews not landing until next month, the Ryzen 5 9600X & Ryzen 7 9700X have managed to amass over 2500+ pre-orders while the Ryzen 9 9900X & Ryzen 9 9950X have amassed over 3700+ pre-orders (as of 27/7/2024). Making a pre-order means that customers will have to pay a small fee to process their orders when the chips finally launch. This is done to avoid bogus pre-orders.

Coming to the pre-built PCs, there are a range of options available with prices starting at:

  • Ryzen 9 9950X - 7799  RMB ($1068 US) - CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 9 9900X - 6449 RMB ($889 US) - CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 7 9700X - 4649 RMB ($641 US) - CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • Ryzen 5 9600X - 3949 RMB ($544 US) - CPU+32GB+1TB+B650M AORUS PRO AX+360mm AIO
  • The AMD Ryzen 5 9600X can also be found in pre-built PCs with prices as low as 2999 RMB or $413 US while the Ryzen 7 9700X is available for as low as 3799 RMB or $523 US. The PCs come with 16 GB of DDR5 memory (5200 MT/s), 500 GB NVMe storage, a B650 motherboard, a chassis, PSU, and air-cooler. These alone should be worth around $150 US so that gives us around $250 US for the Ryzen 5 9600X and $370 US for the Ryzen 7 9700X CPUs.

Overall, these prices look very attractive for Chinese customers who are planning to buy new PCs equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs. Once again, we only know some preliminary prices based on retail listings while official ones will be revealed close to the launch. As for the launch, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X & Ryzen 7 9700X will be first to hit retail shelves on the 8th of August while the Ryzen 9 9900X & Ryzen 5 9950X will be landing on the 15th of August.
