AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE & Radeon PRO W7800 GPUs Now Get ROCm 6.0 Support

AMD has expanded support for ROCm 6.0 to additional consumer and workstation GPUs which include Radeon RX 7900 GRE & PRO W7800.
AMD's ROCm 6.0 software has been seeing various developments with updated support for both consumer and pro GPUs alongside the additions of new AI-based features. The momentum around ROCm 6.0 is continuing at full speed as AMD knows that to compete against NVIDIA & Intel who offer their software ecosystems such as CUDA and OpenAPI, they need to continue with the current pace or even exceed it at some point. That's also why AMD made the ROCm 6.0 source code available a while back.
As such, AMD is announcing today that two more of its RDNA 3 GPUs designed for the consumer and pro segments, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE and the Radeon PRO W7800, are getting supported by ROCm 6.0. These GPUs join other consumer cards such as the Radeon PRO W7900, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, and Radeon RX 7900 XT which are already supported in ROCm 6.0. This ensures that AI enthusiasts are covered across a wider price range of products rather than being limited to the ultra-enthusiast segment.
In addition to the GPU support, AMD's ROCm 6.0 software suite has also added support for ONNX Runtime which allows inference to be run on a wider range of source data on AMD hardware that is available locally. Furthermore, the software suite now supports INT8 compute through MIGraphX in addition to FP32 and FP16. AMD GPUs also saw support for CUDA apps through ROCm software via ZLUDA which we talked about here. The company also continues its support for PyTorch which now adds FP32 and FP16 mixed precision.
This is great work by the AMD software team who are strengthening the ROCM 6.0 ecosystem for the AI and ML era. The company also promises to continue expanding the hardware and software capabilities of ROCm 6.0 in the future.
