We Got To See The Insides of XMG's dGPU-Less "Intel Core Ultra" 15.3" Laptop, Next-Gen CPU Model In Late 2024 1

At CES, we managed to get hold of a prototype XMG laptop featuring Intel's Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" CPUs in a dGPU-less design.

This year's CES has been jam-packed with announcements regarding Intel laptops from various manufacturers. XMG is also amongst the list with its own 14th Gen Raptor Lake-HX enthusiast designs but the company has also previewed its upcoming thin and light model featuring Intel Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" CPUs.

XMG hasn't decided on the full specs yet but the laptop will be a 15.3" design with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It comes with an edge-to-edge keyboard and a 4-row numpad. On the outside, the laptop is very sleek with two USB Type-A ports, a USB4 port, and an HDMI 2.1 + Ethernet LAN port at the back. The laptop has cut-outs at the bottom and also has exhaust vents on the back to blow air out of the chassis.

Internally, the XMG Laptop will pack an Intel Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" CPU with a rated power of 45W+. The specific chip isn't disclosed yet but XMG wants to make this a dGPU-less design & rely solely on Intel's integrated Arc Xe-LPG GPU to power your graphics needs. Once again, this iGPU is very capable of handling gaming experiences at 1080p and should be more than enough for the majority of users. XMG calls this its first dGPU-less laptop design but it should be mentioned that they are also working on a dGPU-less AMD Ryzen laptop too as previously disclosed.

The CPU also supports an NPU. There are two SO-DIMM slots for DDR5 memory and the cooling solution is a dual-fan and dual heatpipe design. There are two NVMe slots for SSD storage too. The battery is a 80Wh design and the whole thing weighs 1.5kg. XMG hasn't revealed the availability or pricing of this model yet but it should hit retail in the first half of 2024.

More refreshes and laptops are already being planned according to the 2024 XMG roadmap. At CES, the company is giving a preview of a yet unnamed thin and light model featuring an Intel Core Ultra processor, which will be XMG’s first laptop to do without a dedicated graphics card and instead opts for the powerful, integrated graphics unit of Meteor Lake.

The laptop maker also mentioned that it is working on a brand new laptop design for Intel's next-gen CPUs that will arrive in late 2024. Though the CPU isn't mentioned, we could guess that it would either utilize Intel's Arrow Lake or Lunar Lake CPUs, both of which are confirmed to arrive in 2H of 2024. This shows that laptop manufacturers are already prepping for future Intel CPUs and we can expect loads of action later this year.
