ViewSonic Unveils VX1622-4K, A Portable 15.6-inch 4K OLED Display

ViewSonic has revealed its new 15.6-inch 4K OLED portable display, VX1622-K, which launches soon. IT Home discovered specifications for the new display while we were able to find a link to drivers and the Quick Start Guide.

The ViewSonic VX1622-4K offers an OLED display that will come with a dot pitch of 0.08964 mm x 0.08964 mm and a screen ratio of 16:9. The max resolution of the new portable display is 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz with a 1000000:1. The viewing angle on the ViewSonic VX1622-4K is 170° x 170° and offers a maximum response time of one millisecond.

The ViewSonic VX1622-4K portable display offers a maximum brightness of 440cd/㎡ and a color gamut of 100% Adobe RGB and DCI-P3. However, the color gamut coverage is also listed as "TBD." It could be possible that they have yet to determine the final specification for the color gamut or will not reveal it until the portable display's release.

Color depth for the ViewSonic VX1622-4K is rich at 1.07 billion colors (8-bit + FRC) and offers an HDR setting of HDR True Black 500. The surface coating on the display is an anti-glare multi-layer film.

Internally, the display offers dual multimedia speakers with a power of 1W each. The new display has two USB Type C connections and a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable. Another Type C USB cable is used as an external power source for the new portable display from ViewSonic. Lastly, there is a 3.5mm audio port for external speakers or headphones.

It is unclear how this new display will sit up for users, as it is not fully explained in the Quick Start Guide's images or information. The middle lower section of the display could be the "kickstand" needed for the display to be used for portable use. Additionally, there has been no information on pricing or availability. If it does release soon, we should expect it during the next few months. If not, it could coincide with the holiday season of this year. Given the specifications provided, the display offers a meager refresh rate compared to some so pricing could fall within the $100 to $200 range based on specifications from other manufacturers.
