V-Color PRISM Pro RGB Golden ARMIS 32 GB DDR4-5066 & TeamGroup T-Force Xtreem ARGB 32 GB DDR4-4000 Memory Kit Review

The first consumer platform to support DDR4 memory was Intel's Skylake Z170 family & the respective Z170 motherboards. The memory initially came with native speeds of 2133 MHz but since then, AMD and Intel, have modified their platforms to not only support faster native clock speeds but also allow for higher clocked DIMMs to be supported by XMP profiles that have been tuned specifically by the motherboard manufacturers to support a large range of memory kits with clock speeds beyond the native design.

With the launch of Intel's 12th Generation Desktop CPUs, we got to see the brand new Alder Lake-S Z690 platform which features improved I/O and support for fast DDR4 memory up to speeds of 5000 MHz. Today, I will be taking a look at how well the performance of DDR4 scales against DDR5 on the Alder Lake platform.

For 2022, V-Color has introduced their latest PRISM PRO series which offers premium aesthetics with faster clocks and tighter timings thanks to higher binned DRAM ICs. They sent me their latest DDR4-5066 memory kit for review, the PRISM PRO RGB GOLDEN ARMIS.

The V-Color PRISM PRO RGB GOLDEN ARMIS 32 GB DDR4 memory kit is designed to offer great aesthetics with great value and as such, this RGB emblazed kit can be found for $88.99 US which is comparatively cheaper to other RGB DDR4 kits in the market. The kit we received is optimized at a clock speed of 3600 MHz. The memory kit consists of dual 8 GB DIMMs which make up a total of 32 GB in capacity. The memory kit has a tested latency spec of CL20 and the timings are 20-30-30-50 for this specific kit. The voltage set at reference is 1.6V and the memory kit comes in an unbuffered package with a non-ECC (Error Correction) design. The memory kit is fully compliant with Intel's XMP 2.0 and can be easily set to its rated clock speeds through the BIOS shipped on the latest Intel motherboards.

The kit I received is optimized at a clock speed of 4000 MHz (PC4-28800). The memory kit consists of two 16 GB DIMMs which make up a total of 32 GB DRAM of capacity.
