Vecow, a Taiwanese PC manufacturer, has introduced its latest Mini PCs featuring a stackable design featuring Intel Core Ultra CPUs & RTX GPUs.

The newest TGS lineup of industrial Mini PCs aims to make computing a delight for the segment by offering the best performance and connectivity features for consumers. With this lineup, Vecow wants to have a take on the Edge AI hype, creating a product that features Intel's Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" CPUs. The TGS series consists of two SKUs, which include the TGS-1000 and TGS-1500 models, with the primary difference lying in support of MXM GPUs in the latter variant.

Moving on to specifications, the TGS-1000 Mini PC is a fanless design that gives you the option to select from the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H or the Intel Ultra 5 135H CPUs. These CPUs adopt an onboard NPU which provides up to 11 TOPS AI performance for industrial workloads, making it highly suitable for such environments. This isn't the most powerful NPU out there since the latest SOCs offer over 40 TOPS of performance to meet the Copilot+ requirements. And, if you want even better performance, then you can opt for an NVIDIA RTX "Ada" series MXM GPU in the TGS-1500 Mini PC.

For memory and storage configurations, the TGS-1000 series features a dual-channel memory slot, supporting DDR5-6400 modules, and capacities up to 96 GB. The mini-PC offers two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x 4 slots, compatible with 2280 and 2242 form factors. In terms of onboard connectivity, the mini-PCs feature 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type C, and 2x USB 2 Type-A ports; hence, in terms of connectivity, you can have plenty of options here. For display, the TGS-1000 series features 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (through Type-C interface). You can get two additional DP 1.4 ports with the MXM graphics as well.

The TGS-1500 is essentially a TGS-1000 Mini PC with a second stack equipped below it which houses the MXM GPUs. The GPU options are quite flexible, ranging from NVIDIA's RTX Ada to Intel's Arc solutions. Following is the full list of GPUs available in the TGS-1500 Mini PC:

  • Optional supports Compact MXM Graphics to boost performance AI and media processing workloads
  • NVIDIA Ada Lovelace/Ampere/Turing architecture supports max 9728 NVIDIA CUDA cores, 384 Tensor Cores, or 76 RT Cores, delivering max 41.15 TFLOPS peak FP32 performance
  • Intel Xe HPG microarchitecture delivers 72 TOPS AI performance
  • Compact MXM Accelerator : NVIDIA RTX A2000 Ada, NVIDIA RTX A2000, NVIDIA Quadro T1000, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000, NVIDIA Quadro RTX A3500 Ada, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 Ada, Intel Arc A370M
  • If the above-mentioned ports feel insufficient, the TGS-1000 series offers even more stackable packages that allow users to combine multiple devices to increase the number of connections onboard. So, it's a daisy chain, but slightly different. Here's how the stacking mechanism works, based on being dependent on different modules present on the devices:

  • TGS-101 : 16-bit GPIO
  • TGS-102 : 16-bit Isolated DIO (8 DI, 8 DO)
  • TGS-104 : 2 Isolated COM RS-232/422/485
  • TGS-105 : Dual USB 3.0
  • TGS-106 : Dual 1G LAN
  • TGS-107 : 4G Module with SIM Socket
  • Vecow hasn't unveiled the pricing of the mini-PCs, but they sure are going to be costly, given that they are designed for industrial workloads and feature one of the best SoCs out there for the mobile segment.
