Samsung Unveils Stunning 77-Inch Neo QLED 8K TV Within Its QLED, MICRO LED, OLED 2024 Line 1

Samsung has unveiled its AI-enhanced Neo QLED 8K TV alongside a range of Micro-LED, and OLED options for its 2024 TV lineup.

The influx of AI has been widespread into every other segment of the industry, and it looks like the display markets might now see a new "revolution" through it. Samsung Electronics has announced new models in its QLED, MICRO LED, OLED, and Lifestyle display lineups, with each having a common addition, "AI-powered" goodies. It seems like next-gen display products, specifically those targeting the entertainment segment will indeed see AI as a primary catalyst for their sales traction and popularity amongst consumers.

Starting with the highest-end entries, the Korean giant has unveiled the Neo QLED 8K and 4K TVs that offer top-of-the-line display panels and specifications, however, our focus would be on the products' AI elements. The TVs will reportedly feature Samsung's "revamped" AI TV processor (NPU), the NQ8 AI Gen3 which is said to be twice as fast as its previous counterpart. Samsung has increased the neural networks onboard up to 512, a whopping eight times increment, along with improvements within several software-based elements, such as upscaling and enhancer technologies.

The Neo QLED lineup also brings a suite of picture quality and design enhancing features, including:

  • 8K AI Upscaling Pro: Leverages NQ8 AI Gen3 for enhanced 8K upscaling, sharpening low resolution content so that it is displayed in ultra-high resolution.
  • AI Motion Enhancer Pro: Solves common issues in sporting contents — such as ball distortion — by streaming high-resolution sports matches through this feature powered by NQ8 AI Gen3. The feature automatically detects the sport type and uses deep learning to apply the proper ball detection model.
  • Real Depth Enhancer Pro: Adds details to fast-moving scenes using AI to precisely control mini LEDs. By detecting the part of a scene that the human eye would naturally focus on and bringing it to the foreground, images appear more lifelike and three dimensional.
  • Infinity Air Design: Complements Neo QLED 8K’s impeccable picture quality with a screen only 12.9mm in depth, allowing for an immersive viewing experience that focuses on high resolution and outstanding sound quality. It is also offers a unique mirror effect in which the TV appears to hover in its surroundings.
  • Samsung has made AI an integral part of TVs and other displays within its lineup, and to back it all up, the Korean giant has made new improvements within its Tizen OS ecosystem, which is where a consumer can tune their display according to preferences. This time, the OS is designed in a way to cater to the idea of personalization, which means that each household user can set up their profile, to fulfill their own needs. The UI of the operating system has been enhanced as well, and now you can navigate your way through it with Samsung's upcoming "Gaming Hub Wireless Controller" which was revealed a few days ago.

Moving on to other upcoming products, we have the world's "thinnest" Micro LED panel designed by Samsung, which by viewing from the naked eye, looks like a transparent TV. The screen utilizes an "extremely small MICRO LED chip", that results in complete visibility of the panel, without even the slightest seam or light refraction. The concept behind the display looks pretty interesting and as if it is something from another planet, but it will be interesting to see what sort of response the product sees from the consumer industry since it's pretty unique and distinctive at the same time.

In the end, Samsung has announced its 2024 entrants in the OLED TV lineup, the S95D, which has seen improvements from last year's model, the S90D and the S85D. The S90D and the S85D will feature in various sizes ranging from 42-inch to 83-inch, however, the S95D will come in last year's form factor at 77-inch. The distinctive feature of this year's model is the inclusion of Samsung's "OLED Glare Free" technology, which is an optimization feature through an "OLED-optimized, low-reflection" coating targeted towards preserving color accuracy and maintaining image quality in all situations and viewing angles.

To conclude the talk, Samsung has decided to make some changes in its "award-winning" Lifestyle displays as well, and this particular lineup is targeted towards industry enthusiasts and those who look to see out of the box. Samsung has unveiled a revamped version of "The Frame", which is designed for art displays and has seen widespread industry adoption in the past. Next, we have the Premiere 8K project, which is one of its kind in the world and offers wireless connectivity to give consumers the power of portability with their display devices. Finally, we have the Freestyle 2nd Gen portable projector, which can create a display as large as 160 inches with a 21:9 screen ratio.

Samsung has revealed some exciting entries for this year, and we can't wait to see what sort of response the products bring once they enter the market. As always, we are on the show floor for CES 2024 and are eager to bring on-ground coverage to our readers out there.
