Supply chain sources now report that Samsung has successfully passed NVIDIA's qualification tests for its HBM3E memory, a massive breakthrough for the Korean giant.

It looks like Samsung has finally achieved a goal that the firm has desired for several quarters. The Korean giant is preparing to start supplying HBM3E to none other than NVIDIA. For those unaware, Samsung has been trying for quite some time now to achieve NVIDIA's certification for its HBM3 processes since that would not only put the company in the mainstream markets but secure NVIDIA's trust, which means that Samsung will receive a massive portion of orders from the industry.

After rumors of a potential HBM certification failure, Samsung has finally made its comeback, as Taiwanese media sources report that the Korean giant has successfully passed NVIDIA's tests and expects to supply HBM3E to Team Green by the next quarter. It is said that with this development, Samsung has diverted its production lines to HBM, as up to 30% of the existing DRAM production capacity has now been allocated for HBM3E, which shows the extent of the demand Samsung faces from the likes of NVIDIA.

In terms of the HBM market dynamics, Samsung's main competitor, SK hynix, took the lead long ago, since the firm became an early HBM supplier for NVIDIA, back when the AI frenzy was at its all-time high. Now, Samsung aims to close down on this gap, and given the anticipated demand for NVIDIA's Blackwell products, it is expected that HBM demand will increase massively, and that's where Samsung comes into play since it has a production capacity far larger than competitors. By downsizing DRAM production, Samsung might be able to fulfill NVIDIA's demand seamlessly.

It's important to note that the certification development is still a rumor for now, and neither Samsung nor NVIDIA has commented on it. However, based on industry indicators, it's certain that the Korean giant will be a vital player for Team Green amid the arrival of next-gen Blackwell architecture.
