In a twist of events, AMD's ex-official Robert Hallock has joined Intel as a Senior Director of Technical Marketing ahead of the company's highly anticipated Innovation 2023 showcase.

For those who don't know, Robert Hallock is a widely-known personality in the PC community, primarily due to his responsiveness and commitment toward people. He had been at Team Red's camp for 12 years. He left the company around the same time that AMD was launching its latest Ryzen 7000 CPUs. Robert disclosed the news on a LinkedIn post, expressing the following:

After a restful sabbatical, I'm excited to announce my next adventure! Today I joined Intel Corporation as Senior Director of Technical Marketing, where I'll be focusing on AI for consumer processors.

I've always been happiest working on the next big thing in Client, and spending some time on AI is surely that. The PC is never boring, of course, but AI sure seems like an unusually unique moment. It's not often an all-new category of accelerator shows up, after all.

We are—all of us—on the cusp of transformative performance improvements for speech, text, music, images, video, and more. There's a fantastic team at Intel working to make those everyday experiences better, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.

As mentioned by Robert, AI is undoubtedly the "next big thing" in the industry, especially for client computing. With his inclusion in Intel's camp, the company will indeed witness a boost in terms of consumer interest, mainly due to Robert's influence. We previously revealed that Intel will focus on "integrating AI" into its products such as the upcoming Meteor Lake "Core Ultra" lineup which has a dedicated VPU. This will bring Intel's CPU capabilities on par with AMD which has already integrated dedicated AI acceleration within its Ryzen family in the form of "Ryzen AI".

Intel is expected to hold Innovation 2023 by September 19th, and the company is expected to disclose its trajectory for the future. Robert Hallock is expected to make an appearance during Innovation 2023, and we can't wait to see what he brings to Intel and the community.
