Razer Wolverine V3 Pro features faster triggers and bumpers for esports gaming

Razer has announced a new wireless controller, the Razer Wolverine V3, designed for use with the Xbox and on PC. Calling it a wireless esports controller, this new peripheral is targeted at those who want to eke out the greatest advantage they can in multiplayer esports games.

Officially licensed by Xbox, the controller features both the Xbox and Razer logo on the front, an offset joystick layout, and ABXY buttons as you would see on a regular Xbox controller. It has rubberized grips which wrap around to the back, where you'll find four paddles which can be easily reached with the middle and ring fingers. Razer calls these "mouse click back paddles", which is supposed to give you that mouse button click feel. This means you'll get a very short travel, which should be good for speedy activation.

Another cool feature you won't find on a regular controller are triggers that can be set to activate with the speed of a mouse click, just like with the bumpers. This is done by flipping a switch on the back, changing it from your regular analog trigger (with a long distance between the start and end of the trigger press) to an instant response click feel. This could certainly come in handy for those looking for instant response when using this trigger for actions like firing a weapon, or dodging.

Continuing the performance angle, the joysticks use Hall Effect sensors, which are more durable than traditional ones, with less chance of stick drift. A USB-A dongle lets you talk to your Xbox or PC using a 2.4GHz wireless connection for lower latency.

When used with a PC in wired mode, a 1000Hz polling rate can be turned on. Polling rate is basically the frequency at which data is being sent from the PC to the device. So in wired mode, you can get the fastest response from the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro, which could be a factor for gamers playing at a high level.

With all the performance features built into the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro, it looks like a nice option if someone has been considering upgrading to something like the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. It comes with a carrying case that fits the controller, extra joystick caps, the USB-A dongle, and a cable for wired use. At S$299, it's a pricey gaming controller, costing even more than the mentioned Xbox Elite Series 2, which retails for S$255. If your goal is to play like a pro gamer, it may be worth a look at.
