NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Graphics Card Reportedly Launching In June Instead of July 1

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is now available for purchase starting at $299 US but gamers aren't showing big interest in the GPU.

In pictures tweeted by Hermita_Akiba which cover various Japanese hardware outlets, we see that at least one major PC shop in the country, Dospara, has only one person show up for the GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card. The card launched just a few minutes ago and the sales embargo lifted at the store at the same time but it looks like not a lot of interest in generated by NVIDIA's latest $299 US offering.

The only person who showed up bought the MSI Gaming X variant of the GeForce RTX 4060 and he also mentioned that it was to upgrade from his older GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

Other users report that this is also the case at another Japanese PC shop, PC Studio, as the tweet below shows:

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is also available widely across major US, EU, and UK retailers but we can't tell right now if the card is moving any meaningful quantities there since it's too early to tell we will definitely know in few weeks time as hardware sales trackers can give us insight if the card managed to sell a decent amount of units in the first few weeks or not.

In our review, we found the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to deliver anywhere from 15-20% boost over the RTX 3060 while being super efficient with faster ray tracing and several Ada-exclusive GPU tech but it does feature a cut-down memory configuration compared to the last-gen 3060. NVIDIA tried to convince gamers that the increased L2 cache will make up for the cut-down VRAM bus but that hasn't helped their case since benchmarks have shown that the card really loses out on the performance difference at higher resolutions and needs DLSS 3 to be considered an upgrade.

At Newegg, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is listed and available for a starting price of $299.99 US:

We are also listing some major retailers where you can buy the card if you are interested:

  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ Newegg (US)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ Amazon (US)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ B&H Photo (US)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ SCAN (UK)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ OCUK (UK)
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Graphics Cards @ Mindfactory (EU)
  • We believe that $249 US would have been a much better price for this card as it feels more like an RTX 3050 upgrade than an RTX 3060 successor. For older RTX 2060 and GTX 1060 users, there are also plenty of current-gen offerings such as the RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, and even Intel's Arc A770 which might feel like a better choice over NVIDIA's RTX 4060 graphics card. The only thing that the RTX 4060 has for it is that it certainly has many custom options to select from which start at $299 US and you can even get some factory overclocked models at the MSRP.

For those who are buying the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, there's also a brand new Game Ready Driver that is available now which offers support for the new GPU. The NVIDIA 536.40 WHQL is available for download here.
