NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" GPUs for gamers are reportedly launching at CES 2025 according to Kopite7kimi.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" GPU lineup will kickstart the next chapter of Team Green's gaming dominance but it looks like it will be some time before we get to see these cards in action as Kopite7kimi reports that the launch has been shifted to CES 2025.

I think we won't see RTX 50 until CES.

Originally, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" GPUs were rumored to launch in Q4 2024, with the GeForce RTX 5080 launching first followed by the RTX 5090. But it looks like those plans have been scrapped in favor of a CES 2025 launch or sometime close to CES (early 2025). At Computex, we heard mixed reports from our sources with some mentioning a Q4 2024 release while others pointed out a Q1 2025 release. It looks like the Q1 2025 release date may now be the real thing as per the latest reports.

Based on previous rumors, NVIDIA is expected to have two flagship dies under the GB202 and the GB203 banner. The former is likely going to be utilized by the GeForce RTX 5090 with up to 192 SM units and up to a 512-bit interface while the latter is expected to be utilized by the RTX 5080. The GB203 is rumored to be half of the GB202 GPU with 92 SM units and a 256-bit interface and both GPUs are expected to utilize the latest GDDR7 memory interface.

PSU maker, Seasonic, recently listed the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 GPUs at its wattage calculator webpage and listed slightly higher TDPs for the new lineup though those are likely based on preliminary information or guesses by the manufacturer. The 2025 launch will mean that both laptop and desktop GPUs within the Blackwell lineup will be available in the same year. NVIDIA did announce its RTX 40 "SUPER" lineup at last year's CES so it would make sense to do the RTX 50 unveil at CES 2025. The company usually launches its desktop SKUs first around Q3-Q4 followed by the laptop SKUs around Q1.

If these reports are true, then it will be highly unlikely that we will see any announcements/teasers regarding the gaming lineup at upcoming events such as SIGGRAPH or Gamescom, we can expect to hear some whispers surrounding the next-gen lineup from AIB partners who should be working on them. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" Gaming GPUs are expected to be a huge leap for the PC graphics segment. Meanwhile, AMD is also rumored to launch its Radeon RX 8000 GPUs on the RDNA 4 architecture around CES 2025.
