NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Series Are Now The Most Popular GPUs In Korea’s DIY Market, Outselling RTX 3060 Series

NVIDIA's latest GeForce RTX 40 GPUs such as the 4060 series are gaining popularity in the Korean DIY segment & have started outselling the 3060 series.

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 series which includes the 4060 Ti and the 4060 got off to a rough start, offering little improvements over their predecessors in the 3060 series and not being a great value when considering that the 3060 series were being offered at much lower price points. However, the past few months have seen NVIDIA and its partners offer price discounts and cuts across the 4060 & rest of the RTX 40 lineup which has changed the perception of the DIY market in South Korea.

According to Danawa Research, it is reported that NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 GPUs are now seeing far better consumer response with the overall sales of these cards exceeding 40%. The RTX 4060 Ti stands as the most popular GPU with a sales share of 23.59% followed by the RTX 4060 with a sales share of 22.17%. Meanwhile, the RTX 3060, the previous most popular GPU, has fallen to 11.85% and the RTX 3060 Ti has fallen to just 2.18% of the sales volume reported in December 2023. The sales share breakdown for December 2023 is as follows:

  • RTX 4060 Ti - 23.59%
  • RTX 4060 - 22.17%
  • RTX 3060 - 11.85%
  • RTX 4070 Ti - 11.25%
  • GTX 1660S - 8.08%
  • RTX 4070 - 8.00%
  • RTX 3060 - 2.18%
  • Other cards such as the RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4070, and GTX 1660 remain the next most popular offerings with both selling close to the 10% sales volume mark. The volume of RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 isn't mentioned since they are premium models and have been around for over a year so the bulk of their sales was expected within the first few months of launch.

The main reason for the huge increase in RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 GPU sales is once again attributed to the pricing which has now become almost on par with the 3060 series plus the older RTX 30 GPUs are getting hard to buy due to their production ending relatively soon. Although the green team still wants to keep the RTX 3060 GPUs around for a little more time and price-cut them even further we are also getting the RTX 3050 6 GB in the sub-$200 US price range which has been made for entry-level consumers.

In terms of variants, the ZOTAC Gaming Twin Edge, Palit Storm X Dual, and MSI Ventus 2X seem to be the most popular choices for gamers. All of these are dual-slot designs with compact form factors making them a perfect fit for budget builds. The rest of the 34.89% sales volume is made up of other vendor cards. This is good news for NVIDIA and the 4060 GPU series but we would also like to see the sales of AMD's Radeon & Intel Arc GPUs in the Korean DIY segment.
