NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop “AD107” GPU Tested, Up To 65% Faster Than RTX 3060 Laptop

The first benchmarks of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU featuring the AD107 GPU have been published over at Bilibili by 中正评测.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPUs are based on the AD107 GPU die which features a total of 3072 cores, 8 GB of GDDR6 memory running across a 128-bit bus interface with clock speeds of up to 2370 MHz and a TDP range between 35-115W. The graphics chip is designed for mainstream & entry-level mobility gamers and the specifications do show that.
In the testing, a Thunderobot Zero series laptop was used which features an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU with 16 GB of DDR5-4800 memory and a display that outputs a maximum resolution of 2560 by 1600 with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz. The retail price of this unit is expected at 9499 RMB or around $1400 US which is close to the RTX 3070 laptops from the past two years. This puts RTX 40 series laptops in a hard spot since their value isn't as great as the older series and consumers are going to pay similar prices for a lower-tier chip this time around.
With that said, let's take a look at the graphics performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB laptop GPU which comes in a 140W configuration and boosts up to 2.5 GHz+ in this laptop. First up, we have 3DMark Time Spy where the GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU offers 23% better performance than the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. This is a synthetic benchmark so let's take a look at some gaming numbers.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU 3DMark Time Spy:
The first gaming title that was tested is Assassins Creed: Valhalla in 1080p where the RTX 4060 GPU ended up 60% faster than the RTX 3060 laptop & around 20% faster than the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB desktop graphics card. It even ended up faster than the 3070 Ti laptop GPU by 9%. Next up, we have Shadow of The Tomb Raider at 1080p where the GPU ended up 36% faster than the laptop & 14% faster than the desktop RTX 3060 GPUs. In CSGO, we saw a similar story with the RTX 4060 out performing both RTX 3060 laptop and desktop chips with a 75% and 20% boost.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Benchmark - Shadow of Tomb Raider 1080p:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Benchmark - Forza Horizon 5 1440p:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Benchmark - CSGO 1080p:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Benchmark - Cyberpunk 2077 1440p:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Benchmark - Red Dead Redemption 2 1440p:
Forza Horizon 5 saw the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU beating the RTX 3060 Laptop GPU by 65% and the desktop part by 5%. In Cyberpunk, the same GPU scored 25% better performance than the laptop RTX 3060 and 10% better performance versus the desktop part while matching the RTX 3070 Ti laptop. Lastly, we have Red Dead Redemption 2 where the chip outperformed the RTX 3060 Desktop GPU by 12.5%. That's an average gaming improvement of 52.5% over the RTX 3060 laptop GPU across five titles at 1080p.
Overall, it looks like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, even with an entry-tier AD107 GPU, can produce some really good performance results compared to the previous gen. The GPU is expected to land in more mainstream laptops later this month on the 22nd of February with prices starting at $999 US. The laptops will feature support for DLSS and advanced ray tracing capabilities which will be giving them a major edge compared to other mainstream and competing laptop chips.
