MSI GeForce RTX 4090D Ventus 3X GPU, Triple-Slot & A Tiny Factory Overclock

MSI has added a new flagship GeForce RTX 4090D GPU in its China-only lineup based on its Ventus 3X cooling solution.
With the addition of the Ventus 3X, MSI's current GeForce RTX 4090D lineup consists of three GPUs, the flagship SUPRIM X model and the Gaming X SLIM model. The Ventus 3X is a new entrant that features the same AD102-250 GPU with 14,592 CUDA cores and 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. Clocks are maintained at the reference boost clocks of up to 2520 MHz but Ventus 3X supports a factory OC of 15 MHz which boosts things up to 2535 MHz.
As you can tell, it's not a big overclock & should result in minimal gains at best which aren't going to be noticeable at all in gaming applications. The reason it's important to mention this factory overclock is that almost all 4090D GPUs come with reference clock speeds but some manufacturers go out of the way and offer overclocks through their 3rd party applications which can be applied instantly. We have seen some vendors even open up power limits up to 600W which allow manual tuning for performance that exceeds that of the RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics cards.
Talking about the graphics card itself, the MSI GeForce RTX 4090D Ventus 3X GPU features a triple slot and triple-fan cooling solution which extends beyond the PCB and a small cut-out is featured on the backplate for the third fan so it can vent out hot air from the back. The card has the iconic silver and black colors on the shroud which look great for minimalistic builds. The main highlights include:
In terms of pricing, the MSI GeForce RTX 4090D Ventus 3X is priced at 14,999 RMB ($2115 US) which is above the official MSRP of 12,999 RMB of the card in China but lower than the other two models.
