Moore Threads Unveils Single-Slot MTT S50 GPU: 8GB GDDR6, 2048 MUSA Cores & 85W TDP

Moore Threads has launched its latest mainstream and single-slot GPU solution, the MTT S50, with 8 GB of memory.

Moore Threads is one of the firms in China that has built its very own consumer gaming GPUs to cater to the market demand and promote the "homegrown" narrative in the region. The company became famous for its MTT S80 gaming GPU, which brought the world's first PCIe 5.0 standard in GPUs to the market, but despite this, the performance of the MTT S80 was completely the opposite, as it wasn't even to cope up against NVIDIA's old GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

This did tarnish the firm's reputation in the eyes of consumers, but Moore Threads seems to want to make another attempt at the industry, this time with its newest MTT S50.

For the specifications, well, the MTT S50 features Moore Threads' very own MUSA architecture, and with the MTT S50, the GPU is equipped with 2,048 MUSA cores, which is half of what the MTT S80 comes with. Along with that, the GPU offers 8GB GDDR6 memory with an FP32 computing power of up to 5.2 TFLOPS. For power consumption, the MTT S50 is rated to take up to 85W, making it a "power-efficient" option indeed.

The Moore Threads MTT S50's overall design employs a gray metallic look all around the chassis, with the firm's logo at the very top with an orange accent. It adopts a single-fan "blower-style" design and, according to the company's description, is ideal for office environments. The GPU, employing a single-slot design,  measures 264.4mm in length and 126.6mm in height.

In terms of display interfaces, Moore Threads' MTT S50 features 1x HDMI 2.0 and 2x DisplayPort 1.4 ports onboard, supporting up to 8K resolution display and AV1 multi-channel high-definition video encoding capabilities.

While the company didn't share performance benchmarks with their product listing, the GPU is said to provide stable 1080p performance, that too under high settings at titles such as League of Legends, but given that we haven't seen official reviews drop in, we should avoid jumping into conclusions.

Moore Threads is looking to capitalize on the regional markets by expanding its product offerings, and with the release of the MTT S50 consumer GPU, it certainly is going in the right direction. The firm has also been working on optimizing its drivers to allow seamless and optimized integration, so it's surely moving step by step, but there's still a lot of work to be done.
