Intel is rumored to be preparing a new Raptor Lake Refresh CPU lineup known as Bartlett Lake for desktop and notebook platforms, reports RedGamingTech.

Intel recently released its 14th Gen Raptor Lake CPU refresh, a follow-up to its 13th Gen Raptor Lake family. Both families were featured on desktops & laptops and offered slight updates in terms of architecture design compared to Alder Lake. The Raptor Lake CPUs saw a small improvement in the P-Core architecture moving from Golden Cove to Raptor Cove while the E-Cores were based on the same Gracemont core architecture. The major differences came through the upgraded clocks & and the addition of more cores and cache.

The 14th Gen Raptor Lake CPU Refresh only offered a mere clock speed upgrade of 200 MHz and a few new SKUs but it looks like Intel will offer a 3rd Raptor Lake Refresh, which will be called Bartlett Lake. According to RedGamingTech, Bartlett Lake is going to be the follow-up to the 14th Gen Raptor Lake Refresh family on the LGA 1700 platform.

Yep, it looks like Intel is going to follow AMD's Desktop segmentation and continue to support the LGA 1700 platform for the foreseeable future despite their true next-gen Desktop CPUs, Arrow Lake-S, being compatible with the newer LGA 1851 platform. It is mentioned that Bartlett Lake-S CPUs from Intel will be aiming at the budget segment with cheaper prices while Arrow Lake-S will be the more premium offering for desktop enthusiasts. This is similar to how AMD still offers Ryzen 5000 CPUs for AM4 consumers while Ryzen 7000/8000 CPUs for AM5 remain the premium choice of chips.

It is also speculated that Intel might include higher caches and bring small IPC improvements with Bartlett Lake CPUs but that cannot be confirmed at the moment. The Bartlett Lake-S Desktop CPUs do sound interesting but there's a lot that needs to be uncovered such as the specs and what kind of changes these chips bring.

For users who just bought LGA 1700 motherboards or were planning to upgrade from an older 12th Gen CPU to something new, it looks like these chips might be a blessing in disguise. Intel has so far only confirmed next-gen Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs for 2024 and Panther Lake for 2025 so expect more information at the upcoming events.
