GALAX HOF Extreme 50S PCIe Gen5 SSD Features Speeds Up To 12.4 GB/s

GALAX has unveiled its revamped HOF (Hall of Fame) Extreme 50 PCIe Gen5 SSD, making it one of the fastest storage solutions available on the market.
For a recap, GALAX revealed the HOF Extreme 50 SSD a few months ago, featuring cutting-edge specifications. It featured read and write speeds of 9500 MB/s (1,300,000 IOPS) and 8500 MB/s (1,100,000 IOPS) for the 1TB variant and 10,000 MB/s (1,500,000 IOPS) and 9500 MB/s (1,250,000 IOPS) for the 2TB variant. These speeds are undoubtedly high in the industry. However, the HOF Extreme 50S has improved performance since the read and write speeds are increased to 12400 MB/s and 11800 MB/s.
Apart from the performance speeds, there are no significant changes. It is reported that the HOF Extreme 50S comes with the same Phison PS5026-E26 controller which was seen in the previous model. Some of the main features of the new SSD will include support for the GALAX Magic Disk Xtreme Tuner with SMART self-check, storage optimization, firmware updates, secure erase, temperature monitor, and a list of other functions.
One distinguishing aspect of the HOF Extreme 50 lineup is its active cooling solution. The SSD comes with an aluminum heatsink with a single cooling fan to allow better thermal dissipation under load. The company itself tested this cooling mechanism, and as expected, the SSD ran under an ambient temp of 20C and a peak temp of 47C in benchmarking applications.
For now, GALAX is expected to launch only the 2TB version of the HOF 50S Gen5 SSD, with the 4TB model in development. Details regarding pricing & launch date are unknown however, it's expected that the company will soon disclose more information.
