Cooler Master Unveils Tempest G2711 Gaming Monitor: Mini-LED Backlighting 1

Cooler Master has unveiled its first Mini-LED gaming monitor, the Tempest G2711, which features an innovative cooling design.

Cooler Master has a dedicated monitor portfolio targeted towards gamers. For now, the company has divided its monitors into three segments: the Tempest Mini LED series, the GM series, and the GA series. The company hasn't gained much traction in market popularity, but with its recent entry, things could change since on paper, the new monitor ticks all the check boxes of what a hardcore gamer needs.

Cooler Master is all set to release the Tempest GP2711 gaming monitor soon, and it boasts cutting-edge features, making it a viable option for gamers. Starting with the panel specifics, the GP2711 comes with a 27-inch Mini LED display, with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440. The monitor comes with a VA panel onboard, the first of its type by the company in the Mini LED segment, which is an interesting choice when being paired up with a Mini LED backlighting method. The monitor is targeted towards a gamer, which is why it boasts a 165 Hz refresh rate with a response time rated at < 4ms (GtG).

  • Versatile Connectivity: Includes Type-C connectivity with video output and 15W power delivery.
  • Moreover, the GP2711 comes with a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut rating, which is quite competitive compared to similar options in the market. The monitor comes with VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification as well, with a peak brightness rated 1500 nits, ensuring optimal display with high-quality output that caters to the needs of both a casual and a hardcore gamer. The GP2711 is equipped with Mini LED backlighting that is divided into 576 different local dimming zones, which makes it distinctive in the market when it comes to yet again the display quality of the monitor.

Moving on to the onboard connectivity options, the Cooler Master GP2711 comes with 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0, and 1x USB Type-C that supports video output and 15W power delivery. For more room, Cooler Master has included two USB 3.0 ports as well. The monitor supports KVM switching as well, which means that accessing multiple devices on the display will become much easier, instead of buying a dedicated KVM solution separately. Cooler Master has also included a dedicated cooling solution onboard, with an innovative back design to ensure optimal heat dissipation from the monitor's main chip.

In terms of pricing, the Cooler Master GP2711 is expected to retail for USD 449 and will be released somewhere in Q1 2024. The new monitor is certainly a great entrant in Cooler Master's product portfolio, however, it will be interesting to see how the company manages against the existing options available, especially from firms that are well-established in the manufacturers.
