Intel Core i5-14490F "Black Edition" CPU Leaks Out: 10 Cores at Up To 5.1 GHz & 65W TDP 1

Intel released the 13th Gen Core i5-13490F CPU in China last month and it looks like the chip has already seen some aggressive price cuts.

The Intel Core i5-13490F CPU was initially launched for 1599 RMB or $230 US which we thought was a bit too high and it looks like that was indeed the case given the CPU has been discounted just one month after its release. The new pricing of the CPU is 1449 RMB which is further discounted down to 1419 RMB (special promo) which is around $205 US. That makes the CPU $9 US more expensive than the Core i5-13400F.

During the Alder Lake generation processors, the Intel Core i5-12490F was released but was not well received initially. This was partly due to its unusual pricing upon release, but customers did begin purchasing the processor once the costs leveled closer to the Intel Core i5-12400 processor. The same is the case with the Intel Core i5-13490F CPU.

The Intel Core i5-13490F CPU maintains the same cores as the 13th Gen Core i5-13400F with six Performance cores (P-Cores) and four Efficiency cores (E-Cores) which equals twelve cores in total across sixteen threads. The clock speeds for the 13490F reach 4.8 GHz with its boost clock. The CPU also offers 24 MB of L3 cache and 9.5 MB of L2 cache. Compared to the 13400F, it offers 20% more cache with about 4% faster clocks. The TDP on the i5-13490F is 65W, identical to the rest of the Non-K offerings while maintaining the same support for DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800 memory kits.

In benchmark performance tests, the Intel Core i5-13490F scored 779.7 points in single-core and 6834.5 points in multi-core tests. The new Intel Black Edition chips are about 8.5% more efficient in multi-core benchmarks and 5% more efficient in single-threaded tests than the standard Core i5-13400 CPU.

Intel's new 13th Gen Core i5-13490F CPU joins the Core i7-13790F processor, which was also regionally specific to China and released earlier this year. The Core i7-13790F CPU from Intel is based on the B0 chipset and offers an 8+8 dual-core set with boost frequencies between 4.1 GHz to 5.2 GHz. This chip is the bigger brother to the 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700F processor, which was also released this year and had a current price of 2899 RMB.
