BoostR Releases External GPU Solution, Featuring AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT

BoostR has unveiled a unique external GPU solution, featuring AMD's Radeon RX 7600M XT, OCulink support, and more.

With the rise of handheld and portable gaming device markets, eGPU products have seen a similar impact as consumers look to compensate for computational shortcomings with add-on solutions. Similarly, BoostR has joined in the hype with its new BoostR eGPU device, which not only comes with an exceptional GPU onboard but also features ample connectivity options, guaranteeing the best experience to users.

Diving into the specifications, BoostR eGPU features AMD's Radeon RX 7600M XT GPU, which looks to be a preferred choice in this particular segment, as competitors such as the OneXGPU and many more feature the same architecture. For a quick rundown on capabilities, the GPU is based on the Navi 33 "RDNA 3" SKU and features a total of 32 compute units, 2048 shader units, 32 MB of Infinity cache, 8 GB GDDR6 memory running across a 128-bit wide bus interface and a maximum clock speed of 2615 MHz. The TGP can be set between 75-120W.

Apart from graphical performance, BoostR eGPU comes with a dedicated M.2 slot, yet again similar to counterparts in the markets, to provide extensive storage capacities, supporting up to 4TB. The unit can reach a 100W TDP under normal conditions, and with its "Boost" mode, it can go up to 120W. To cool everything down, the eGPU comes with a vapor chamber cooling technology with a patented VC copper heatsink to ensure optimal heat dissipation.

For connectivity, the BoostR eGPU includes one USB4 port, two DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces, and an OCulink port. Overall, BoostR eGPU indeed does look like an exciting product, competing with some of the market's top alternatives out there, however, it is still in its crowdfunding stages, hence buyers should proceed with caution.
