ASRock has unveiled its latest X600TM-ITX, the world's only AM5 Thin Mini-ITX motherboard, that offers AMD Ryzen 9000 CPU support

As we approach the release date of AMD's Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" Desktop CPUs for the AM5 platform, developments across several areas can be seen. Whether it is MSI offering the new BIOS patch for Ryzen 9000 CPUs or ASUS adding new curve optimizer features to their X870E-based motherboard series, manufacturers are getting their products ready for full compatibility. ASRock also launched a brand new motherboard which is the world's first AM5 Thin Mini ITX design.

  • Thin Mini-ITX
  • Supports AMD AM5 Socket CPUs (Ryzen 9000, Ryzen 8000 and 7000 Series Processors, up to 65W)
  • Supports Intel CPU Cooler
  • Supports Dual DDR5 6400+(OC)MHz memory, Max. 96GB
  • Multi Video Outputs: Dual HDMI, one DisplayPort, one LVDS
  • Quad Storage Devices: Dual Hyper M.2 Socket (PCIe Gen4 x4 & SATA 6Gb), Dual SATA 6Gb
  • 1 USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port,
  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A Port,
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen1 Ports
  • The ASRock X600TM-ITX is a Thin Mini-ITX motherboard, which now offers support to AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" CPUs along with 8000 and 7000 series processors. It should be noted that the support is only for chips featuring up to a TDP of 65W since the motherboard is suited for entry-level systems and offers a basic 4+1+1 power phase design. The board offers basic slots, ports, and headers for RAM, storage drives, and peripherals in an ultra-small form factor, measuring just 6.7 x 6.7 inches.

ASRock has already offered a new AMD AGESA 1.2.0.0 BIOS update for improved Ryzen 9000 CPU support a few weeks back. These motherboards are based on the B650/B650E and X670/X670E chipsets, which don't put restrictions on the processor support according to their power consumption. Since, B650 and X670 chipsets offer a bigger form factor and have well-designed VRM for stable power delivery, users planning to build their system using mid-range and high-end Ryzen 9000 CPUs will be better off with them.

The ASRock X600TM-ITX Motherboard, on the other hand, does not possess the ability to handle higher-end chips and doesn't utilize any dedicated heatsinks over the VRM for cooling. Thin ITX motherboards are ideal for mini PCs, AIO solutions, and home theater PCs due to their compact form factor without sacrificing the necessary features. Interestingly, the motherboard is also listed with support for Intel's default cooling solution which might be a mistake but given that the Intel default coolers are low-profile, it might be true as they make a lot of sense for Mini PCs with limited area.

Expect more such updates for similar motherboards from other vendors before the official launch of Ryzen 9000 CPUs. Currently, some of the Zen 5-based CPUs are rescheduled to launch on the 15th of August instead of the 8th. While the 9600X and 9700X are planned to launch on the 8th, the higher-end SKUs will be available on the 15th.
