Alleged AMD Zen 5 CPU Spotted With 8 Cores & 16 Threads, Could Be The First Chips In Lab 1

AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU with 3D V-Cache technology has appeared within the Ashes of The Singularity benchmark.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D is one of the three 3D V-Cache "Zen 4" CPUs that will be launching later this month. The CPU seems to already be in the hands of reviewers who are testing this chip & one has taken the chip to the tests within the Ashes of The Singularity benchmark. The benchmark was one of the popular ones a few years ago but these days, it's not that useful for performance metric comparisons since it has various versions, and most benchmarks are done with custom resolution.

With that said, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D was tested with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and scored up to 9100 points within the Crazy 1080p preset though once again, the resolution may not be FHD since the benchmark reports the use of a custom resolution. There's no way to compare the chip to others in the same benchmark unless we know the exact test configurations. Even then, there's no CPU results that should also be included in the benchmark.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU - 12 Cores With 140 MB Cache

The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor will feature 12 cores and 24 threads. This is also a 2 CCD configuration with one CCD configured with the V-Cache and the second without it. The chip features a total of 140 MB cache (64 MB CCD, 64 MB V-Cache + 12 MB L2). The clocks are rated at a 4.4 GHz base which is 200 MHz slower than the Non-3D SKU & the boost clock remains the same at 5.6 GHz. The CPU is also rated at a TDP of 120W.

The CPU is expected to launch at a price of $599 US which is the same MSRP as the Ryzen 9 7900X at launch before it was slashed down to $449 US. The CPU will come with a free copy of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor & is expected to feature some big gains in gaming performance when it launches on the 28th of February.
