AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Costs Lower Than Ryzen 5 5500GT In China, Affordable APUs Starting Below $130

AMD Ryzen 5 5600G APUs are selling at lower prices than the Ryzen 5 5500GT in China despite being the faster option.
AMD recently introduced two brand new APU options for AM4 users within its Ryzen 5000 lineup. These include the Ryzen 5 5600GT and Ryzen 5 5500GT which are 6-core variants featuring slightly affordable price points to attract more budget and mainstream consumers. However, China's CPU segment has seen the prices of Ryzen 5 5600G, a faster SKU, drop below the retail pricing of Ryzen 5 5500GT, making it the more suitable option to go for.
Coming to the specifications, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G was released back in 2021 and is a 6-core & 12-thread option based on the Zen 4-core architecture. It features a 3.9 GHz base and a 4.4 GHz boost clock along with 16 MB of L3 and 3 MB of L3 cache. It also comes with a Radeon-integrated GPU that is based on the Vega architecture with 7 compute units clocked at 1900 MHz. The Ryzen 5 5500GT on the other hand features similar specifications but with a lower base clock of 3.6 GHz. Both chips are rated at 65W TDP and are compatible with almost all AM4 motherboards.
As per JD.com's listing, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G currently retails at 829 RMB which is $116 US while the Ryzen 5 5500GT retails for 939 RMB which is $130 US. That's almost $15 US less than the new variant which is around -11% lower.
Looking at US prices, the Ryzen 5 5600G is listed for $149 US while the Ryzen 5 5500GT is listed for $140 US. This is certainly not the first time we have seen a faster SKU listed at a lower price than a slower variant. The prices are good value for the AM4 budget-building community who are looking to invest in new chips over their aging Ryzen 1000, 2000 & 3000 chips.
