AMD FSR Technology Reportedly Coming To Next-Gen Samsung & Qualcomm Smartphones

AMD is reportedly working with Samsung & Qualcomm to bring FSR "FidelityFX Super Resolution" technology to future smartphones.
The details come from @Tech_Reve who states that AMD, Samsung & Qualcomm have decided to jointly work on the FSR to compete against NVIDIA's DLSS. and Apple's MetalFX upscaling tech. The information suggests that the technology will be incorporated by future smartphones since AMD's laptops and desktops already utilize FSR technologies so it would make sense that Samsung and Qualcomm will work with AMD to utilize it for future smartphones.

Unlike the competing solutions, AMD's FSR technology works with a range of hardware including GPUs from the competition. This hardware-agnostic design can also serve the mobile space well and it looks like Samsung & Qualcomm have partnered up with AMD to utilize the tech for their upcoming flagship smartphones.
Samsung already uses AMD's RDNA GPU IP for its mobile Exynos chips so it makes sense for them to take benefit of FSR. Qualcomm on the other hand also wants to leverage the FPS-boosting tech for its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC for high-end mobiles and both companies will compete against Apple's MetaFX and NVIDIA's DLSS technologies.
NVIDIA DLSS is only applicable to desktop and laptop hardware though the upcoming Nintendo Switch handheld is expected to utilize the technology too and take full advantage of it. Meanwhile, the Apple MetalFX and Ray Tracing capabilities have given them a big jump in-game support with the latest iPhone 15 series supporting modern AAA titles such as Resident Evil Village. So far, only NVIDIA and Intel have upscaling technologies that leverage AI with NVIDIA offering frame-gen too. AMD recently introduced Frame-Gen for its FSR 3 tech without the need for AI-based hardware and Apple isn't going after AI-based upscaling either at the moment.
The use of AMD FSR within smartphones will definitely be a major development for Arm & Android-based devices. Expect more information in the coming months as these products are introduced to the consumer segment.
