AMD Confirms Radeon RX 7000 Mainstream RDNA 3 GPUs Launching This Quarter

During its Q1 2023 earnings call, AMD confirmed that it will expand its Radeon RX 7000 RDNA 3 portfolio with mainstream options this quarter.

The AMD RDNA 3 lineup was launched back in December 2022 and since then only two cards have been available to gamers from the red camp, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT. Both of these cards are priced at an enthusiast-level for $999 and $849 US, respectively. While they do offer value better than the competition, especially higher VRAM, the mainstream audience doesn't have access to RDNA 3 for now.

The vast majority of AMD's mainstream portfolio is still based on the older RDNA 2 lineup in the RX 6000 series. But that's about to change as AMD anticipates the launch of its first mainstream RDNA 3 GPUs under the Radeon RX 7000 series within this quarter. The company had the following to say during its earnings call:

In gaming graphics, channel sell-through of our Radeon 6000 and Radeon 7000 series GPUs increased sequentially. We saw strong sales of our high-end Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs in the first quarter, and we're on track to expand our RDNA 3 GPU portfolio with the launch of new mainstream Radeon 7000 series GPUs this quarter.

With that said, the company did state that sales and demand for the high-end Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card were strong but the main driver for the gaming segment was the semi-custom SoCs for premium gaming consoles such as the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

We have heard reports that AMD is expected to introduce its Radeon RX 7700 and Radeon RX 7600 series graphics cards around Computex or later this month. The Radeon RX 7600 custom graphics cards will be showcased by 1st party AIB such as XFX, Sapphire, PowerColor, & ASRock. Meanwhile, other AIBs who deal in both NVIDIA & AMD cards might hold off their showcase until the cards are officially released. Computex 2023 commences on the 28th.

The AMD Navi 33 GPU which is likely going to power the Radeon RX 7600 series graphics cards would be the third chip of the RDNA 3 lineup and utilize a monolithic design.

The Navi 33 GCD is expected to feature 2 Shader Engines and each Shader Engine has 2 Shader Arrays (2 per SE / 4 in total). This rounds up to 16 WGP's or 32 Compute Units for a total of 2048 cores which is the same core count as the Navi 23 GPU.

The GPU will come packaged with 32 MB of Infinity Cache, the same amount as the Navi 23 GPU, and across a 128-bit wide bus.  First introduced on laptops as the Radeon RX 7700 & RX 7600 series, the Navi 33 GPUs will be aiming at the budget segment with prices between the $250-$350 US range. These cards will compete against NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 series lineup which is also expected in May.
